Police have uncovered what are believed to be human remains as part of their investigations into the disappearance of Queensland man Andrew Burow.

The family of the 56-year-old Kelvin Grove man has been contacted, although the remains are yet to be formally identified.

Investigators made the discovery at Maidenwell, a rural town in the South Burnett region about 20 minutes south west of Nanango.

A crime scene has been established, along with another scene in bushland along the D’Aguilar Highway near Moore, in the Somerset Region.

Investigations are ongoing

Three crimes scenes were established on the Sunshine Coast last week as part of the investigation.

Two men faced Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with the alleged torture of Mr Burow, who worked in IT as a cyber security expert.

The men remain in custody.

On Monday, police appealed for information relating to three vehicles and specified locations of interest.

Police said after the appeal, a Crime Stoppers report was received regarding a fire in the Blackbutt area on August 29.

Investigators say the information led to the discovery of the scenes at Maidenwell and Moore.

Brisbane regional crime coordinator Detective Acting Superintendent Craig Williams thanked the media and the public for their assistance.

“Every piece of information provided to police is crucial for this investigation,” Superintendent Williams said.

“Police will continue to utilise every avenue available to us until we have answers.”

Police are still seeking more information about the cars, which include a black 2010 BMW X3 with Queensland registration 802NX4, a black 2011 Ford Ranger utility with false QLD registration 257LX8 and a silver 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander wagon with QLD registration 385KU2.

They want to speak with anyone who might have relevant footage or dashcam in the Brisbane, Ipswich, Yarraman, Blackbutt and Sunshine Coast areas between August 21 and August 26.Â
