Mr O’Driscoll is also accused of producing a knife during the course of a fight.

Garda Ciara Galvin gave evidence of arresting Mr O’Driscoll at 11.59pm on Tuesday evening at Clondalkin Garda Station.

Mr O’Driscoll was subsequently charged with the two offences.

Gda Galvin said the accused was cautioned, handed a true copy of the charge sheets and made no reply to the charges after caution.

Gda Galvin said she had no objection to bail, subject to a number of conditions, including an undertaking that Mr O’Driscoll stay away from the alleged injured party, any witnesses in the case and a named school.

Gda Galvin also sought a twice weekly sign on condition.

Defence lawyer Ciaran MacLoughlin objected to this, saying Mr O’Driscoll had family and ties to the community.

Judge McHugh did not impose a sign on condition.

The judge remanded Mr O’Driscoll on bail in his own bond of €100. As part of his bail conditions, he must provide a mobile number to gardai, and stay away from the alleged victim and a named school.

Mr O’Driscoll has not yet indicated a plea to the charges.

Mr MacLoughlin said that there was no application for legal aid.

Gda Galvin said Mr O’Driscoll faced the possibility of further charges, and the case was adjourned to a date in November for DPP’s directions on the matter.
