Barrister Diarmuid Phelan, who was previously acquitted of murder, is being sued by a neighbour he was accused of assaulting in a separate criminal case that did not proceed.
Mr Phelan (57), also known as Diarmuid Rossa Phelan, who lectures at Trinity College Dublin, had an assault charge against him dismissed by a judge back in June, who said the law professor would not get a fair trial.
