Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole money from a victim after assaulting them unprovoked in Toronto’s east end.

Toronto police say they were called to the area of Gerrard Street East and Woodfield Road on the evening of Aug. 15, at around 11:30 p.m.

Authorities say the suspect approached the victim, struck up a brief conversation and allegedly attacked the victim as they started to walk away.

The suspect allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim’s pocket before fleeing the area.

Police say the victim sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are searching for 42-year-old David Ouimette, of no fixed address, who is wanted for robbery and two counts of breach of probation. The charges have not been tested in court.

Police describe Ouimette as five-foot-11 with a heavy build, weighing about 200 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes and a beard.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
