The aviation regulator will keep open Jim Gavin’s high-ranking job for seven years if he is successful in his bid for the Áras, or until after his campaign if he is not elected.

As the former Dubs manager travels the country seeking the support of Fianna Fáil TDs and senators to become the party’s presidential candidate, his employer – the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) – has refused to say whether he has taken leave or when he intends to do so.
