Former taoiseach Bertie Ahern has ended his efforts to run in the presidential election, claiming his successor Micheál Martin is “anti” him.
Mr Ahern has told supporters he does not want to run as an Independent, but he was very serious in his ambition to secure the Fianna Fáil nomination.
