The trial of Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan continues at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London this morning.

The 57-year-old writer is accused of harassment and criminal damage following an incident involving a transgender woman last October.

Graham Linehan is accused of harassing Sophia Brooks, a transgender woman, between 11-27 October last year.

Yesterday the court heard that Mr Linehan relentlessly posted comments on social media about Ms Brooks, who was 17 years old at the time of the alleged offences.

Mr Linehan was also accused of “whacking” the transgender woman’s phone out of her hand at a Battle of Ideas conference in London on 19 October.

Mr Linehan denies the charges.

Mr Linehan’s legal team put it to Sophia Brooks that she deliberately attended the conference to annoy, irritate and harass the people there.

The now 18-year-old denied the accusation.
