Tributes have been paid to the man found dead in an Armagh village on Thursday morning.

He has been named locally as Chrissy Burns.

Mr Burns was found deceased at a property in the Cusher Green area of Mountnorris.

It is understood that he was originally from the Warrenpoint area of Co Down and had recently moved to the area.

He was found to have suffered serious head and facial injuries.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A man in his 40s has died in Mountnorris, County Armagh.
Emergency services attended a property in the Cusher Green area shortly after 11:30 BST and discovered the man deceased at the scene, with serious head and facial injuries.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, the Police Service of Northern Ireland has said.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Although our investigation is at an early stage, we are working at pace to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and to determine exactly what happened.”

Mr Burns’ death is the 10th murder in Northern Ireland in 10 weeks.

Tributes were paid online to Mr Burns in the hours following his death.

One person posted: “Absolutely shocking news, poor Chrissy most certainly didn’t deserve this. May you rest in peace.”

Another said: “Chrissy a sweet crazy boy. Grew up with him in school and recently seen him. A man with a heart of gold and I’m devastated to say the least, poor Chrissy sleep tight.”
