A 24-year-old woman has died after she was hit by a driver in a Scarborough intersection on Friday evening, Toronto police say.
The fatal collision happened at Steeles Avenue E. and Midland Avenue at about 5 p.m., according Duty Insp. Errol Watson, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service.
Watson said paramedics tried to save the woman’s life but she was pronounced dead there.
The driver, a 59-year-old man, remained at the scene and is co-operating with police. There’s no word on charges.
“This is an incredibly heartbreaking incident and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time,” Watson told reporters on Friday night.
Watson said the intersection remains closed as police continue to investigate.
