Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson made his England debut on Saturday evening.

After impressing for Nottingham Forest and with England’s under-21s, Thomas Tuchel called up Elliot Anderson to the senior squad for the first time.

Tuchel put Anderson in from the start in the 2-0 win against Andorra, partnering him in midfield with Arsenal’s Declan Rice.

England supporters had a lot to say about the 22-year-old’s showing at Villa Park, as they took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to react.

It’s fair to say Anderson really impressed in his first game for England as he produced a stellar performance in the middle of the park.

Three Lions fans were left in awe at his display, and some made the bold claim that he’s even better than Rice.

“I don’t watch a ton of Nottingham Forest matches so I know I’m late to the party, but Elliot Anderson is a very very tidy player,” @oeste admitted.

“Elliot Anderson is better than Declan Rice on the ball,” @kordellsmiles posted.

@maxbscott commented:”Elliot Anderson has, albeit against Andorra, in just one game made that number 6 pos his to lose. No nonsense, skilful and intelligent footballer. He has it all. Another glowing endorsement of the Young Lions pathway.”

@ClinkClinkFizz added: “Elliot Anderson is some baller, better fit for England than MGW but both are cracking players.”

“Elliot Anderson is the best quiet player I have seen since Busquets,” @NeneQuayenorte1 explained.

Elliot Anderson stats vs Andorra

As evinced by Anderson’s Sofascore statistics, the Nottingham Forest star was near perfect in possession and completely ran the game.

Anderson has certainly done his chances of making the World Cup squad no harm, and in fact, it wouldn’t at all be surprising if he ends up becoming a starter.

He gave Tuchel’s side a lot more control and was constantly looking to make a progressive pass, giving them something a bit different.
