A search and rescue operation is under way in the Shannon Estuary after a person went overboard on the Tarbert to Killimer ferry.
The search and rescue operation involves the Coast Guard Rescue 117 helicopter from Waterford, along with several units of lifeboats and local yachts.
The Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue Team is also participating in the search, having deployed two of their vessels to the estuary.
The ferry connects Tarbert, Co Kerry to Killimer in Co Clare and takes around 20 minutes to cross the Shannon Estuary.
