Carlton will receive a first-round compensation pick for De Koning, while an end-of-first-round compensation selection could be on the way for Silvagni.

Speculation is rife about the future of contracted Coleman medallist Charlie Curnow, who told the Blues in his exit meeting that he was open to a fresh start elsewhere, but is highly unlikely to be traded.

Carlton have agreed on a new two-year deal for swingman Brodie Kemp, who is recovering from an Achilles setback, while goal-sneak Francis Evans and intercepting defender Nick Haynes are poised to score one-year contracts.

They were thrilled with key defender Harry O’Farrell’s debut season after using the No.40 pick on him in last year’s draft, but he suffered an ACL rupture last month in just his sixth AFL game.

The Blues will match any opposition bid on father-son prospect Harry Dean, a highly promising tall backman who is tipped to be a top-10 selection in this year’s draft.

There are recruiting teams that rate Dean among the top-five talents in the 2025 class. St Kilda will pick directly before Carlton, and there is intrigue in scouting ranks about whether Saints list boss Stephen Silvagni will make a bid on Dean.

Also on the Blues’ radar is West Coast discard Jack Petruccelle, a 90-game speedster who could help fill the small-forward role they have had so much trouble with.

Another Eagle, midfielder/winger Campbell Chesser, the No.14 pick in the 2021 draft out of Sandringham Dragons, is out of contract and weighing up whether to request a trade to Carlton.

Essendon have also expressed interest in Chesser, who has a two-year offer from West Coast.

The 22-year-old underwent ankle surgery in February that saw him spend months on the sidelines, but he played career-best football while averaging almost 17 disposals at AFL level in the final month of the season.

Other Blues still out of contract include Harry Charleson, Irishman Rob Monahan, Jesse Motlop, Will White and Flynn Young. Sam Docherty retired, and they already delisted Alex Cincotta, Orazio Fantasia and Harry Lemmey.

Carlton finished 11th with only nine wins in a disappointing 2025 campaign, but new chief executive Graham Wright backed Voss to continue as coach next year.
