Carlos Alcaraz was able to beat Jannik Sinner to win the US Open title and dethrone him as world number one.
Alcaraz lost to Sinner at Wimbledon, which was his first ever loss in a Grand Slam final.
However, that does not seem to have impacted the Spaniard, as Alcaraz did not lose a set heading into the US Open final.
After Alcaraz beat Sinner, 6-2 3-6 6-1 6-4, to win his second US Open title, he sent a message to his Italian rival.

This is the third consecutive Grand Slam final between Alcaraz and Sinner, as they continue to dominate the ATP Tour after sharing the last eight Grand Slam titles equally.
After winning his sixth major title, Alcaraz paid tribute to Sinner in his on-court interview on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
“I wanted to start with Jannik,” said Alcaraz. “It is unbelievable what you have been doing throughout the whole season. Great level every tournament you are playing.
“I am seeing you more than my family! So it’s great to share the court and locker room with you. Watching you improve every day and work really hard with your team, you have really great people around, so congratulations on everything you are doing and great performance throughout the whole week.”
Jannik Sinner congratulates Carlos Alcaraz after losing US Open final
It has been a very rare sight to see Sinner lose a match at a hard court major, with his last coming at the US Open in 2023.
Despite the disappointment of losing both his US Open title and world number one ranking, Sinner was keen to congratulate Alcaraz on his triumph.
“First of all I would like to start with Carlos and the whole team, you are doing amazing,” said Sinner. “Congrats. I know it was a lot of hard work behind this performance today where you were better than me, so congrats. Enjoy it. It is a great moment.
“Then of course, my team. Thank you for supporting and understanding me. For working hard, we all know how much dedication we put in to be at this stage. We know it has been an incredible season.
“A lot of big stages and matches we have played throughout the season and I’m super happy to share this moment with you, my family which is home and all the people I love. I tried my best today, I could not do more. So thank you for the support.”
After the conclusion of the final Grand Slam of the season, Sinner will now drop to world number two in the ATP rankings for the first time since June 2024.
While Alcaraz will now be back at the summit of the rankings for the first time since September 2023.
