The Crows cleared forward Josh Rachele for selection if they required him this week, with the livewire attacker set to return with the club’s season on the line against the Hawks. Who he replaces will be the question, with Matthew Nicks needing to make a cut-throat call at selection. Youngster Zac Taylor looks to be the most suitable to make way. Veteran Brodie Smith is another susceptible to being axed, having made some costly errors after coming into last week’s loss to Collingwood as the tactical sub when the game was there to be won. Fellow flanker Luke Nankervis will be an option to replace Smith if Nicks does feel like swinging the axe on the 272-gamer, but that’s a large weight of experience to shed.

There’s a watch on young tall Calsher Dear, who is said to be nursing a hamstring complaint and will await scans, per 9 News. Any potential risk is not worth taking, especially when the Hawks have Mitch Lewis available. But does Sam Mitchell look elsewhere and make a further change? The other notable name who missed the trip to Sydney’s west on Saturday was wingman Harry Morrison, who was listed as a test as he dealt with a quad concern. If he’s cleared to play this week, then he might get his reprieve ahead of Changkuoth Jiath, who, at times, failed to fire against the Giants after coming into the game as the sub.Â
