Hugh Jackman is embracing a new look in the first trailer for his upcoming film Song Sung Blue. Stepping back in time roughly three decades, the X-Men actor debuted some serious sideburns and long, shaggy waves in a full-blown transformation that rendered him essentially unrecognizable.
Jackman stars in the movie opposite Kate Hudson. The veteran duo play real-life musicians Mike and Claire Sardina, who formed a Neil Diamond tribute band called Lightning & Thunder in 1989. Song Sung Blue is based on the 2008 documentary of the same name.
Hudson, for her part, marked the release of the first trailer with a celebratory Instagram post.
“At its core, this film is about love,” she wrote in her caption. “About the dreams we chase, the chances we take, and the families who hold us together. It’s about the music that gets us through. Opening Christmas Day! We can’t wait to share it with you 🎶❤️🎬.”

Jackman most recently starred in Deadpool & Wolverine opposite Ryan Reynolds. He also made headlines earlier this year for his ongoing divorce from ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness. The couple were married for 25 years before calling it quits in 2023.
Amid Jackman’s budding romance with his The Music Man co-star Sutton Foster, Furness called their split a “traumatic journey of betrayal” in a statement shared with People. An Us Weekly source later told the publication that her words “took Hugh by surprise.”

“Her statement took Hugh and mutual friends by surprise because she wasn’t very direct with who she was speaking about but was alluding to Hugh,” they said. “That added emotional weight to it.”
The insider also described Jackman as being “heartbroken” by Furness’s comments. They added that he would not be issuing a statement in return.
