Residents and onlookers in an Inishowen border village were put in danger at the weekend after young motorists took part in a display of dangerous driving.

Locals in Bridgend, and those trying to pass through it, were shocked when a number of cars took part in the antics. They performed a number of manoeuvres including diffing, driving at high speed and doing handbrake turns on the main Derry road. They also took over a local service station where more dangerous incidents occurred.

The road was blocked for a time to traffic travelling in both directions. A number of young people can be seen recording the antics on their phones, just metres from the speeding cars. Almost all of the vehicles had their number plates removed for the occasion.

A spokesperson for the Garda Press Office said local Gardaí received no reports in relation to the incident.

Earlier this year, a similar incident occurred in the centre of Muff village.
