École secondaire catholique Père-René-de-Galinée in Cambridge is closed Wednesday.
The Maple Grove Road school posting on its social media channels the closure is a precautionary measure to ensure staff and student safety.
A statement sent to 570 NewsRadio from the school’s board, the Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir, noted a “serious situation currently under police investigation.”
“In light of this, and in collaboration with the relevant authorities, the Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir has decided to close the school.”
That statement from the board goes on to emphasize that “everyone’s safety is our top priority.”
Waterloo Regional Police tell 570 NewsRadio that investigators are looking into a threat of harm that was made against the school earlier on Wednesday. More information will be released when available.
