Three people are in critical condition and have been transported to a hospital after a shooting at Evergreen High School the afternoon of Sept. 10

9News reported St. Anthony’s Hospital confirmed it has three patients from the shooting, all three of which are under the age of 18. The hospital believes there are no other victims, though that is unclear at this time.

“We’ve received three victims, all minors from Evergreen High School. They are currently being actively treated at St. Anthony Hospital. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center and prepared for situations like this,” Kevin Cullinan, president and  CEO of CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital, told CBS Colorado. “Each of the victims that we have sustained gunshot wounds. They are all, all three victims are all either in the Emergency Department or operating rooms at this time.”

A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said at a news conference the first calls from the school, located about 30 miles southwest of Denver, reporting the shooting came at 12:24 p.m.

The spokesperson said the shooter, a male who is believed to be a student at the high school, was one of three people shot. The shooter is believed to have used a handgun, the spokesperson said, and the spokesperson did not believe law enforcement fired any shots.

It’s unclear if it was a single shooter, the spokesperson said.

The shooting happened on school grounds, the spokesperson said. The school was cleared and that there is no active threat to the school, which has more than 900 students, or community.

There is a possibility of a fourth victim, the spokesperson said.

The sheriff’s office said parent-student reunification is happening at Burgen Meadow Elementary, 1928 S Hiwon Dr.

Gov. Jared Polis said in a social media post that state troopers are assisting local law enforcement with the investigation.

“Students should be able to attend school safely and without fear across our state and nation,” Polis wrote. “We are all praying for the victims and the entire community.”

This is a developing story and information will be added as it becomes available.
