A man shot by police after a house fire on Tuesday has been charged with attempted murder and arson.

About 9.20am on Tuesday, police were called to a house on Cabanda Street, Wynnum West after reports of a fire.

After an incident between a 39-year-old Wynnum West man and officers, the man was shot by police, who then gave him medical assistance.

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

No police officers or members of the public were injured.

The Wynnum West man remains in a stable condition and has been charged with attempted murder and arson.

He was expected to face a bedside hearing today.

The ethical standards command is investigating the incident, with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
