Police have today dropped charges against a man after a woman died at a property in Paraparaumu on Tuesday.

“Police investigating the death of a woman at an address in Paraparaumu can now confirm that her death has been referred to the coroner, and is no longer being treated as suspicious,” Inspector Renée Perkins said.

Officers were called to the Chums Rd address around 9.50pm on Tuesday following reports of an assault.

A woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Charges against a 31-year-old man of assault and breach of protection order have this afternoon been dismissed at Porirua District Court.

“Police extend our ongoing sympathies to the woman’s whānau who are grieving at this time.”
