A Ballybofey man is to stand trial charged with threatening to kill a woman or cause her serious harm.

Paul Hill appeared at Letterkenny District Court.

He faces a total of five charges arising out of incidents at a house in Letterkenny on various dates.

The 35-year-old did not speak during his brief appearance before Judge Deirdre Gearty.

Hill, with an address at Silverwood, Donegal Road, Ballybofey, faces a number of charges.

He is charged that between May 13 and May 14, 2023 at an address in Letterkenny, that he assaulted a woman causing her harm.

On January 14, 2024, at the same address, he threatened to kill or cause the same woman serious harm. On the same date and at the same location, Hill is charged with stealing the woman’s iPhone

Hill is further charged with cutting the left hand side of the woman’s face.

Garda Gillian Page gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on the accused.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins said the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed the accused be sent forward for trial to the next siting of Letterkenny Circuit Court commencing on October 28th next.

Hill’s solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, requested legal aid and one counsel for the case.
