One of Donegal’s oldest citizens is celebrating another great milestone as she turns 106 years young today.

Nabla Diver from Kilcar now resides in Killybegs Community Hospital, where cake and well-wishes will be the order of the day.

Nabla was born on 11th September 1919 in Shannagh, Kilcar.

The youngest of 6 children, she was a skilled knitter who worked for various agents in the area throughout her life.

When asked her secret to a long life, she’ll say that she never worried about anything, never smoked nor drank, ate healthy food and never got married.

Nabla lived independently until only 11 years ago, when she moved into sheltered housing in Carrick. She has been residing at Killybegs Community Hospital since April of this year.

Today, she will be surrounded by family, friends, and the dedicated staff who all wish her a very happy 106th birthday.

She’s also expected to receive her sixth Presidential Coin, a special commemoration for those who reach the age of 100 and older.

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, Nabla.
