A Tottenham, Ont., man has been charged after he allegedly procured a person under the age of 18 and “attempted to lure her into providing sexual services.”
York police say that a victim under the age of 18 reported being “lured” into providing sexual services by the suspect between April and August of this year.
Police say Diaa Al-Shimmary, 35, of Tottenham was arrested on Sept. 9. He has been charged with sexual assault, making child pornography, procuring a person under 18, four counts of luring a child, and others including one for drug trafficking, after police said they found controlled substances during the arrest.
None of the charges have been tested in court.
York police say the investigation is ongoing and believe there are additional victims. They are encouraging anyone with information to come forward and remind the public that “there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences.”
