A woman who waved a phone in a Garda’s face and became aggressive following an accident in Co Donegal has appeared in court.

Macey McCay appeared at Letterkenny District Court following an incident at Main Street, Ballybofey on February 23rd this year.

Ms McCay was charged with failing to comply with a Garda direction.

Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that at 3.15am on the date in question, Gardai were dealing with a road traffic accident.

The accused woman, aged 24, was pushing through the Garda cordon and waving a phone in Garda Saba’s face.

McCay, of Patterson Park, Strabane in Co Tyrone, became aggressive with Gardai and was eventually arrested and taken to the local Garda station where she was apologetic.

Judge Deirdre Gearty asked the court “What was she doing butting in at 3.15am when it was nothing to do with her?”

Solicitor for Ms McCay, Mr Patsy Gallagher, explained that it was Ms McCay who had conacted the Gardai as her partner had been involved in the crash.

He explained that his client had no previous convictions, was very apologetic and was currently pregnant.

Judge Gearty said she would apply the Probation Act and wished the accused well.
