Sontje Hansen picked the ideal moment to score his first Middlesbrough goal as his stoppage-time equaliser at Preston maintained Boro’s unbeaten start to the Championship season.
Preston thought they had the early league leaders beaten when Jordan Storey headed home two minutes from the end of normal time at Deepdale.
But Hansen netted during a goalmouth scramble on his fourth appearance for Middlesbrough to help them avoid defeat.
Lewis Dobbin had fired Preston ahead in the first half with a superb opener but Matt Targett levelled for the visitors before the frantic finale.
