A stretch of Highway 401 has fully reopened after a late-night collision involving a tanker truck and multiple vehicles shut down both directions near Avenue Road, police say.

In a post to social media, police said all lanes were initially closed between Allen Road and Avenue Road as emergency crews responded to the scene.

By early Saturday morning, officials said eastbound lanes had reopened while westbound express lanes remained closed.
