After a pretty quiet start to the week, Vegas began to buzz from mid-week onwards.

The hotels, the casinos, the lobbies – everywhere you looked, particularly today – was packed with boxing fans draped in Mexican flags.

I’ve covered big shows in Saudi Arabia where the atmosphere is a – to put it simply – flat, but this is Vegas, and this is big-time boxing.

With Mexican Independence Day just around the corner, it felt more like a carnival than a fight week.

Crawford might be fighting in his home country, but he will very much be going into the lion’s den this evening.
