For one night, Connor McDavid wasn’t the biggest star in the city of Edmonton.
That title belonged to Morgan Wallen, who played his first of two shows at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton on Friday night.
Wallen was joined on stage by McDavid, as he walked out to greet the crowd of over 60,000 fans.
Wallen has been joined on stage with a number of celebrities and stars during this tour. That included a walk out with Jose Bautista in Toronto, where Wallen accidentally threw a baseball bat at Bautista’s wife.
With Wallen playing shows in Edmonton, it represented the first time in more than a decade that an artist sold out the massive, Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. The last time the stadium was sold out for a concert was back in 2011, when U2 was in town.
As for McDavid, not only did he get to walk out on stage with Wallen, but he got to meet one of his favourite artists. Back in 2023, when asked what his go-to summer anthem was, McDavid replied: “anything Morgan Wallen.”
Later on in the show, Wallen walked onto the stage rocking a Wayne Gretzky jersey.
Edmonton is the last stop on Wallen’s tour, which has spanned across 10 different cities.
