Toronto police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted and threatened a victim, and identified himself as a peace officer.

The incident happened on Aug. 7 in Scarborough, near Birchmount and Ellesmere roads.

Toronto police say that day a person was walking in a crosswalk through an intersection when a male, who was operating a vehicle, approached. An “interaction” between the two ensued during which this individual allegedly exited his vehicle, and assaulted and threatened the pedestrian.

Police launched an investigation into the incident two days later on Aug. 9.

Investigators said the suspect falsely identified himself as a peace officer to the victim.

An Investigation revealed the identity of the driver as 49-year-old Toronto resident Bobby Moyes. He is wanted for assault, impersonating a peace officer, and uttering threats.

The accused is described as standing six-feet tall with a heavy build and grey hair.

Police say he drove a black Hyundai Tucson.
