A man in his 40s has died following a shooting at a commercial plaza in Toronto’s east end on Saturday night, police said.
Police responded to calls about gunshots at a commercial plaza near Victoria Park Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East at just before midnight Saturday.
A male victim with gunshot wounds was located at the scene, said police in a post on social media. Despite life-saving measures by emergency responders, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, Insp. Jonathan Rose with the Toronto Police Service said at a news conference Sunday.
Police said suspects fled the scene and a homicide investigation is ongoing. There is no suspect description at this time and the motive is still unknown, Rose said.
Anyone with dashcam or surveillance video of the area is asked to contact police.
