Adelaide defender Mitch Hinge will be a test for Showdown 58 after suffering a corked hip in the Crows’ Round 19 win against Gold Coast.
Hinge was subbed out at the end of the first quarter, and will be assessed during the week ahead of Saturday night’s clash with the Power.
“Hingey got a pretty bad cork midway through the first quarter, he couldn’t finish the game, it’s in an awkward area around his hip,” Adelaide High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.
“He was pretty sore yesterday, he’s improving today and we’ll see what he can do for the rest of the week. We’re thinking he’ll be available but we’ll see how he comes up.”
Jordon Butts has returned to Adelaide after spending six nights in hospital in Melbourne as a result of the punctured lung he suffered in the Crows’ Round 18 win against the Western Bulldogs.
The defender returned to the Club on Monday and has begun some light activity, with a timeline on his return not yet clear.
“Buttsy was back in the Club yesterday and today, the good news is he can start to do some light activity, some running around, some ball work and strength work,” Burgess said.
“He’s still a little bit restricted, so we’re still not quite sure on his timeline to return, but he’s on his feet this week and doing some running, so it’s good signs.”
Josh Rachele is continuing his recovery from knee surgery, with a timeline for his return not yet determined.
“Rash is doing really well, it’s hard to tell at this stage in terms of how that injury is responding,” Burgess said.
“He gets out of his big brace at the end of this week/early next week, and then we’ll have a bit more of an idea.”
Second-year Crow Oscar Ryan suffered a hamstring injury in the final quarter of Saturday’s SANFL match against West Adelaide, and will face an extended period on the sidelines.
“Oscar Ryan damaged his hamstring in the last few minutes of the game last weekend in the SANFL,” Burgess said.
“It’s a pretty serious one, and he will be out for around eight weeks.”
Brayden Cook has passed concussion protocols following a collision in the Round 18 game against the Bulldogs, and will be available for selection this weekend.
“Cooky has passed all the concussion protocols, and assuming he gets through training tomorrow night he will be available for selection this weekend,” Burgess said.
Key forward Toby Murray will make his return to the SANFL this weekend, having recovered from the fractured ankle he suffered against North Adelaide in Round Two.
“Toby Murray will play this week, it’s exciting because he’s done a mountain of work and the rehab guys have done an amazing job with him,” Burgess said.
“He can’t wait to get started, and we are really looking forward to seeing him play in the SANFL this weekend.”
Tyler Welsh will re-join the main group at training on Wednesday, and eye a return from his broken toe next week.
“Tyler Welsh will train with the group tomorrow, and assuming he gets through that he’ll be available next week,” Burgess said.
