GARDAI investigating the murder of Limerick man Lee Slattery more than 15 years ago have arrested two people.

The body of the 24-year-old was discovered in a shallow grave at the Delmege House estate near Moyross, on the outskirts of the city on May 31, 2010.

Post mortem results indicated that Lee, who was from the Ballynanty area, died as a result of gunshot wounds.

Investigations have continued over the years and in the course of an arrest operation in Limerick this Monday, a man and a woman were arrested – both are aged in their 30s.

A total of 27 people have now been arrested and questioned about the killing of Mr Slattery but, to date, nobody has ever been charged or brought before the courts.

“The man and woman (arrested on Monday) are currently detained at garda stations in the Southern Region under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007,” said a garda spokesperson.
