Dmitry Peskov

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Monday that NATO is “de facto” fighting a war with Russia by providing “both indirect and direct support” to Ukraine.

“NATO is at war with Russia. This is obvious and requires no further proof,” Peskov said at a press conference, according to Russian state-backed media.

NATO is de facto involved in this war. NATO provides both indirect and direct support to the Kyiv regime. So we can say with absolute confidence that NATO is at war with Russia.

In February 2022, Russia banned media outlets from using the term “war” or “invasion” to refer to the full-scale war in Ukraine.

The Kremlin press secretary also claimed it’s European countries who are blocking a peace settlement in Ukraine, accusing them of being unwilling to understand the “root causes” of the war.

On September 10, about 20 Russian drones crossed into Polish airspace during an attack on Ukraine. In response, Poland and NATO allies scrambled fighter jets and shot down several drones, marking the first time Russian UAVs had been downed over NATO territory.

Days later, Romania became the second NATO country to report a Russian drone incursion.
