A man accused of harassment and abusive behaviour towards a teenage girl has been granted bail under strict conditions, following an appearance at Bray District Court.
Stephen Kenny (33) of Annagolan House, Annagolan, Ashford, Co. Wicklow was charged at Bray District Court with threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour in a public place and harassment contrary to Section 10(1) of the Non-Fatal Offences Act 1997.
The offences were alleged to have occurred on March 26 and April 30, 2025, and between April 1 and May 2, 2025, at Main Street, Newtownmountkennedy.
The court heard that allegedly, while at a bus stop, Mr Kenny made sexual hand gestures towards a 17-year-old female, while she was on her way to school.
The charge of threatening abusive or insulting behaviour in a public place was struck out.
Solicitor for Kenny told the court his client has health complications and needs to go to Newtownmountkennedy for his medical appointments and it “could go on for months and months”.
Mr Kenny was granted bail by Judge David Kennedy under strict conditions. The defendant is to have no contact with girl, either directly or indirectly, and must stay out of Newtownmountkennedy, except for medical appointments.
Mr Kenny was remanded on his own bond of €300. He is to return to Bray District Court on October 20, 2025.
