Toronto police have released an image of a suspect wanted in connection with an unprovoked stabbing in the city’s Weston neighbourhood that left one man seriously injured on Wednesday morning.

It happened just after 11:45 a.m. in the area of Weston Road and King Street, north of Lawrence Avenue West.

Police said a man was working at the rear of a building when the suspect approached him from behind and stabbed him unprovoked.

The suspect fled while the victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium to stocky build and a beard.

He was last seen wearing a black balaclava, a black hooded sweater with a white Nike logo on the front, black track pants with light-coloured panels on the calves and black running shoes.
