Three people were taken to hospital after a two-car collision on the outskirts of Letterkenny this morning.

The collision took place at around 9:50am on the R250 at Newmills.

Two women, one aged in her 80s and another aged in her 60s, were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of injuries which Gardaí have described as non-life threatening.

A man aged in his 40s was also transferred to Letterkenny University Hospital for further assessment.

Gardaí remain at the scene of the accident this afternoon, and the road is closed with diversions in place.

The diversion is in place via Newmills Bridge and at Rashedoge onto the L5994 through Druminaught.
