Mulhall walked free from Limerick Prison on Wednesday morning after being granted her first overnight stay from custody

Mulhall, who is serving a life sentence for the brutal killing of her mother’s partner Farah Swaleh Noor in 2005, walked free from Limerick Prison on Wednesday morning after being granted her first overnight stay from custody.

It’s believed the 39-year-old stayed with family in Dublin as she prepares for full release from prison later this year.

A source said: “This is a huge step forward for Mulhall as it’s the first time she has been granted overnight unsupervised release from prison.

“She has been keeping out of trouble and has up to now only been given supervised day release.

“She will initially be given a night or two overnight release from prison and if all goes well this will be gradually extended over the next few months.

“There is a strong possibility that she will be fully released on license by the end of the year. She could be back in Dublin with her loved ones by Christmas.”

The source added: “Not only has she been given overnight release but she is one of six long term inmates who has been given an apartment in the prison which helps prisoners prepare for reintegration into society.

“She has also been taking part in a pre-release course also which sets her up and prepares her for full release.

“While in prison she has taken numerous hair and beauty courses and is very good at it too. She really wants to turn her life around and spend time with her loved ones when she is finally freed.”

Mulhall is currently living in one of the six single-room apartments at the jail where long-term prisoners due for release can learn how to look after themselves as well as cook and clean after a long time institutionalised in custody.

Charlotte and her sister Linda were both branded the ‘Scissor Sisters’ due to the way in which they dismembered the body of their victim Swaleh Noor.

Noor, who had a history of being violent towards women, was found dumped in the Royal Canal near Croke Park.

Following a high-profile trial at the Central Criminal Court, Charlotte, who was 21 at the time of the killing, was found guilty of murder and handed a life sentence.

She served the majority of her sentence at Dublin’s Dochas Centre alongside Linda before being transferred to the female wing of Limerick Prison in December 2018.

Linda was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 15 years in prison. She has subsequently been released from custody is believed to be living in England.

While Charlotte stabbed Noor, Linda struck him with a hammer after the sisters claimed he tried to rape one of them.

They then chopped up his remains inside the bathroom of their mother’s apartment and dumped his limbs and torso in the Royal Canal before taking his head on the bus to Tallaght in south Dublin.

His head has never been found, but it is believed to have been hidden in a park.

A spokesman for the Irish Prison Service (IPS) said: “The Irish Prison Service does not comment on individual prisoner cases.”
