Police on the Bonavista Peninsula are warning residents of Catalina to shelter in place as they respond to an “active criminal threat along Route 237.”
Residents are asked to stay inside away from their windows, and lock their doors.
Police say updates will be posted when they are available, but in the meantime, they are asking people to avoid calling 911 unless it is an emergency.
Route 237 crosses the peninsula, connecting the Discovery Trail at Catalina with the Bonavista Highway near Amherst Cove.
