Two people are facing charges after allegedly luring a woman with offers of a “luxury lifestyle” and then withholding her identification documents and trafficking her across Ontario for financial gain.

Durham Regional Police say they launched their investigation into the two suspects, a man and woman, in July.

Investigators allege the suspects recruited the victim through social media by “offering her a luxury lifestyle.”

“All of the victim’s movements were tracked and she was forced to make a large cash quota weekly for the suspects,” officials wrote in Friday’s news release.

Eventually, the victim managed to flee and contact police.

Investigators say they concluded their investigation on Thursday, executing multiple search warrants across various locations.

Police did not provide details on where these warrants were executed.

Toronto residents Weyyon Brown, 38, and Eve Adam, 26, are facing various combined charges, including criminal harassment. The charges have not been tested in court.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have been victimized, or has additional information, to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
