A provisional driver was clocked doing 196 km/h in a 100 km/h zone in Melbourne’s east overnight, police said.
At around 3am, Nunawading Highway Patrol officers intercepted the 18-year-old driving a high-powered vehicle doing almost double the speed limit on the Monash Freeway in Glen Waverly.
It’s expected the Berwick man will be charged for exceeding the speed limit, speeding dangerously, driving a prohibited vehicle, and other traffic violations.
The Volkswagen Golf R was impounded for a month at $1050.
