We have official confirmation – Scott Pendlebury has been subbed out of the game with calf tightness. This is a massive blow for the Magpies, who have lost one of their on-field spiritual leaders for not only this game but possibly next week should they win through to the grand final.

He headed down the race around the time when Mason Cox was lining up for goal, only to return moments later to sit in the back row of the bench. His look said it all.
