As tourism continues to bustle in the nation’s capital, a new study from OpenTable and KAYAK finds that hotel restaurants are increasingly driving in consumers.
The Shore Club located within the Westin Ottawa, and Zoe’s at Fairmont Château Laurier have been listed among eateries in Toronto, Vancouver and Edmonton in the top 50 hotel restaurants across the country.
“As hotel dining enters a new age with nearly two thirds (61%) of hotel restaurant diners being locals, it’s a chance to win over locals looking to dine out, not just overnight guests,” Matt Davis, Senior Country Director, OpenTable Canada, said in a press release.
The research also shows that dining can make or break the entire traveler experience.
The study concludes that 68 per cent of Canadians would book the same hotel again because of a positive dining experience and 74 per cent would be more likely to try a hotel restaurant if it came highly recommended.
Twenty-nine per cent said they would choose to dine in a hotel restaurant based on whether their food was “social media worthy”.
“Travellers aren’t just asking ‘Where should I go?’—they’re asking ‘What’s on the menu when I get there?’” Kate Williams, Chief Communications Officer at KAYAK, said in a press release. “Great dining experiences are an essential part of today’s travel itineraries and hotels are rising to the occasion.”
The Shore Club and Westin hotel are located next to the Rideau Centre in the city’s ByWard Market area. The Fairmont Château Laurier is located next to Parliament Hill.
“Being featured on this list is a true testament to the passion and dedication of our entire team — from our culinary artists to our front-of-house staff — who strive each day to create an unforgettable dining experience,” Genevieve Dumas, general manager of the Fairmont Château Laurier, told CityNews in an email statement. “We’re honored to be recognized among Canada’s best and are more motivated than ever to continue delivering excellence in every dish and every detail.”
