It started out well, birthday boy George Springer started it with a home run, and that was the last good moment of the game.
The bottom of the inning? Well, Max Scherzer gave up five runs before getting his first out. The inning went:
And that was it for Max. Seven hits, seven runs, one walk, two strikeouts while getting two outs. ERA jumps to 5.06 from 4.31 at the start of the game.
If he’s going to have a spot in the playoff rotation, his next and last start of the year will have to be amazing.
We had a lot of bullpen innings:
Then Tyler Heineman gave up nine hits, seven earned.
Myles Straw came in with one out in the ninth and got two quick outs.
We only had three hits, three walks and five strikeouts.
Jay of the Day: Springer (.099 WPA). He had two of our three hits.
Other Award: Scherzer (-.484).
Tomorrow We have Shane Bieber (3-1, 3.72) vs. Noah Cameron (8-7, 2.98).
At least the Yankees lost, so we are still up by three games with eight to go. But it would be nice to watch a win again.
