Goals from Jack Stacey and Jovon Makama counted for little after a terrible start to the second half by the Canaries, who have now lost all of their first four games of the season in NR1.
Liam Manning told his players he wanted dominance in his pre-match press conference, but that wasn’t what he got early on. Wrexham controlled the early proceedings, a half-chance for Josh Sargent the only high point for the hosts.
Lewis O’Brien went close at the other end when his free-kick was palmed away by Vladan Kovacevic, before Josh Windass’ low strike bounced off the post and away.
The clearest chance of the game then fell to Matej Jurasek in his first appearance of the Championship season, leaving former team-mate Callum Doyle in the dust but failing to beat the goalkeeper. Kieffer Moore did the same for Wrexham shortly thereafter.
The man able to make the most, however, was Stacey. On the brink of half-time he was found by Jurasek through on goal, slotting through Arthur Okonkwo’s legs coolly to open the scoring.
It didn’t take much time or effort to undo his hard work though. Just over a minute after the break they were level, Josh Windass strolling onto a cross unmarked to fire beyond Kovacevic.
That precipitated an almighty meltdown from the home side, who were soon behind. Ryan Longman was the unmarked man at the back post, bundling his half-volley in to make it 2-1. And from there things went from bad to worse.
Before the 60th minute came the boos were ringing out from the City faithful, Windass’ second of the game plunging fans further into misery.
Makama tapped a late consolation home but there was no real chance to earn a point, with next weekend’s trip to Stoke their first opportunity to make amends. It’s another 11 days until they can end their home hoodoo, however, when West Brom travel to Norfolk.

KEY MOMENTS
3 – Norwich press high and Sargent has the ball 20 yards out, but there’s not enough power in his shot.
14 – Kovacevic dives to his left to deny a good O’Brien free-kick.
20 – Windass has time to shoot after a corner routine and fires against the base of the post and away.
21 – Sargent beats a few players and breaks into the box, but his shot is smothered.
24 – Jurasek runs in behind Doyle and goes through on goal, but a combination of a deflection and a good save deny him.
24 – Moore goes through at the other end but can’t beat Kovacevic.
37 – Diallo goes round the keeper but at a tight angle, forcing him to pull back. Crnac can’t get there.
39 – GOAL NORWICH (Stacey): Jurasek spots a gap for Stacey and sends him through on goal. He keeps his cool and slots through the keeper’s legs.
45+3 – Kabore has space and rolls across for Moore, who can’t get there for a tap-in.
Half-time: Norwich City 1-0 Wrexham
47 – GOAL WREXHAM (Windass): Windass strolls onto a cross unmarked and fires beyond Kovacevic to equalise.
50 – O’Brien goes through on goal and is denied by a superb Kovacevic save.
54 – GOAL WREXHAM (Longman): Kabore is in space again on the right and finds an unmarked Longman at the back post to bundle into the far corner.
58 – Another fantastic Kovacevic save denies O’Brien’s curler from the edge of the box.
59 – GOAL WREXHAM (Windass): Windass curls in from the corner of the box to make it 3-1.
73 – Gibbs’ goal-bound strike is blocked well.
81 – Schwartau finds Makama with a good cross, but the latter can’t keep his header down from close range.
90+2 – GOAL NORWICH (Makama): Gibbs’ shot is parried to Makama to tap in.
Full-time: Norwich City 2-3 Wrexham
