Lifford Bridge was closed for a time yesterday evening as emergency services tackled a huge blaze at an industrial facility on the Strabane side of the border.

The blaze broke out on the Lifford Road, close to the Modern Tyres facility, at around 7:30pm and flames and thick smoke could be seen rising high into the sky.

The main artery between Strabane and Lifford was also closed for a time as several units from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) attended. 

It has been reported that the fire may have started in a container used for storage.
