Police in New Hampshire say oen person is dead and multiple people are injured after a horrifying wedding shooting at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua on Saturday night.
The shooter burst into the dining room at around 7:30pm, spraying bullets at the terrified crowd before a guest smashed a chair on his head.
One suspect has been arrested, with Nashua police stating video surveillance confirmed there was “only one shooter.”
“They are currently being detained. The scene is still an active investigation but there is no further danger to the public,” police said.
One person with a gunshot wound was taken to the hospital, while a least half a dozen other people were taken to Nashua area hospitals with injuries that were not gunshot related, WMUR 9 reported.
“The Nashua Department is currently investigating an incident at Sky Meadow Country Club involving multiple gunshot victims,” police said in a statement.
Residents reported a huge police presence outside the country club.
“The Sheraton Hotel (11 Tara Blvd) will be utilized as the unification site. Please do not respond to the area of Sky Meadow at this time,” added police in a follow-up.
In a statement to News 9, Rep. Maggie Goodlander said: “I’m closely monitoring the tragic reports of a shooting tonight at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua. My heart is with the victims, their families, and the entire Nashua community as we await more information.”
On its website, Sky Meadow said it was recognized as the “Best of Nashua Golf” by local publications for five consecutive years and named the best golf course in New Hampshire in 2023.
“Sky Meadow is perfectly located at the top of the highest peak in Nashua, NH, offering breathtaking views that stretch for miles,” the club’s website said.
Nashua is about 45 miles (70 kilometers) northwest of Boston, just across the Massachusetts border.
Dunstable, Massachusetts, which neighbors Nashua, issued a shelter-in-place order.
