11.03am
Zampa bowls Chase
Wicket! West Indies 4-98
Chase was in sublime touch in game one and now he crashes Zampa down the ground. Zampa responds next ball by coaxing a drag onto the stumps!
11.01am
Ellis keeps the clamps on
West Indies 3-92
No boundaries from Ellis’ second over, which features a couple of wides but plenty of variations to prevent Chase or Powell from lining him up.
West Indies will now be struggling to get much more than 150.
10.53am
Kuhnemann’s last over is tidy
West Indies 3-85
Kuhnemann returns to bowl his last over.
He keeps Chase and new man Rovman Powell pretty quiet and finishes with 0-33. It’s just that one over against King, costing 20, that inflated those figures.
10.47am
Maxwell wins duel with Hetmeyer
Wicket! West Indies 3-82
Shimron Hetmeyer hammers Maxwell for a flat six over square leg – flat enough for Maxwell to initially shout for a catch.
Maxwell then gets enough spin for Heymeyer to slice one high into the outfield but it falls safely.
Now there’s a big lbw shout, and a review. Hetmeyer is hit on the back foot by a skidding delivery in front of leg stump. It’s umpire’s call on height, so Hetmeyer survives. Maxwell is not too pleased.
But he is pleased next ball! Hetmeyer pulls another shortish ball but this time he picks out backward square leg.
10.41am
Marsh drops Chase
West Indies 2-72 from 10 overs
Dropped chance! Australia’s first of the series. Roston Chase drives uppishly at Zampa and Marsh puts down the catch at cover before offering a smile grimace.
Still, it is another tidy over from Zampa and West Indies are a modest 2-72 at the halfway point.
10.36am
Maxwell strikes, two in two balls for Australia
Wicket! West Indies 2-68
Maxwell comes on and there’s another wicket right away. Two in two balls.
Hope tries to go for six down the ground but skies it and Marsh takes a very good running catch. As captain, Marsh has recognised this surface is slower than it was for game one, and he’s gone very spin heavy so far.
10.32am
King passes 50 then is out to Zampa
Wicket! West Indies 1-63
King pushes Zampa for a single to reach 50 from 33 balls. He was 13 from 15 at one stage before starting to find the boundary.
There’s a bit of spin there and Zampa coaxes a miscue from King. The ball falls just short of Marsh, who was fielding right on the edge of the fielding circle.
That chance is followed by a wicket. King can’t quite get to the pitch and Cam Green takes the catch very well, running back to his right.
10.28am
Connolly replaces Kuhnemann
West Indies 0-59
More left-arm spin for Australia with Cooper Connolly introduced.
His second ball is short and King flat bats it disdainfully down the ground for six. The rest of the over is tidier and goes for 10 in all.
10.24am
Crafty Ellis into the attack
West Indies 0-49
Ellis is such a resourceful operator, and his constant use of changeups keeps the batters guessing.
He gets through the over without conceding a boundary, and a West Indian Powerplay for 49 runs is a pretty good result for Australia. Marsh would like a wicket or two, however.
10.20am
King finding his range
West Indies 0-44
King goes back to Kuhnemann and cuts him crisply to the boundary. Then he gets a fuller ball and dunks it down the ground for six.
Another shorter ball is carved past cover, and then a full ball disappears for another six. That’s 20 off the over. King is now winning the battle of lengths with Kuhnemann, who was unusually used for three overs in a row.
