A 44-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a Toronto home, where police used a drone to locate the suspect prior to arrest.

A man is facing charges after allegedly breaking and entering into a home in Toronto’s York neighbourhood last week.

Toronto police said officers responded to a call for unknown trouble in the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street just before 2 a.m. on Sept. 15.

It is alleged that a woman was at home when the male suspect damaged a door and entered. He then threatened the woman and police said she left the home and went to “a nearby establishment for safety.”

Police said the suspect was arrested a short time later using a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) and Police Dog Services.

Video of the arrest shows a suspect hiding in what appears to be trees or bushes next to a shed in the backyard of a home.

Police can then be seen approaching the backyard from the side of the house. They then advance to the rear corner of the lot and apprehend the man from his hiding spot.

Randy Mills, 44, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with one count each of break and enter, uttering death threats, and breach of probation, as well as two counts of disobey lawful court order.

The charges have not been tested in court.
