Gardaí had to be called to a shocking incident in Tralee involving an individual brandishing what appears to be a machete on the grounds of the Tralee Community Training Centre (CTC) in Monavalley on Tuesday morning.

The terrifying scenes show a group of youths scuffling before one individual takes out a machete and starts attacking another individual with it.

The campus was immediately locked down for security reasons during the attack as terrified staff and students awaited the arrival of the guards.

An online video shows the masked individual wearing red gloves and a white mask pulling the machete from underneath his jacket and threatening people before attacking them. A group of youths tried to restrain the attacker who later ran off.

It’s not known if anyone was injured in the incident. The individual left the scene and has not been identified as yet.

In a statement, the Kerry Education & Training Board said it is aware of an incident that happened in the Kerry Community Training Centre on Tuesday morning.

“The Gardai were contacted and are dealing with the matter.”
