From the Olympic rings to engagement rings, Kelly McGrory has gotten engaged to fellow Irish athletics star Thomas Barr!
The Tir Conaill AC athlete from Laghey said ‘yes’ on a dreamy holiday in Corfu.
Sharing picture-perfect sunset snaps on her Instagram, Kelly announced, “Corfu will have a place in my heart forever. And so will you Thomas Barr! 17.09.25”
The proposal marks a new personal best for the couple who have been by each other’s side for years, representing Ireland on the world stage.
Wedding planning doesn’t seem to be any hurdle for Kelly either, who added her excitement at entering her “fiancé era”.
Kelly, a five-time Irish 400m hurdles champion, made her Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Games.
Waterford native Thomas is a three time Olympian who won mixed relay gold at the European Athletics Championships in 2024. He retired from athletics in January with the Irish 400 metre hurdle record of 47.97,
Kelly is the daughter of Greg and Mary McGrory, the proprietors of The Rambling House in Laghey.
Thomas Barr also shared the happy news on his Instagram and said: “Ring ring, hello? We’re fiancés!
“17/09/25 I made a promise and I can’t wait for the next chapter together”.
